CompShop: My Funny Valentine

April 29th, 2009

In honor of Paula’s dress last night, which looked like a Valentine’s bouquet, here are the three idol renditions of this tune:

Constantine Maroulis

Melinda Doolittle

Matt Giraud

    If I can’t have Sinatra-
    CONSTANTINE.

He has an amazing voice & looks good too.

I voted for Constantine’s version – I absolutely love it! He takes your breath away when he looks into the camera and his vocals are beautiful.
Paula told him she had fallen in love with him after that performance and I think that was the case with a lot of the women watching him that night in 2005.
He’s starring on Broadway now in “Rock of Ages” and he’s as gorgeous and talented as ever. His voice has never been better!

Melinda Doolittle’s version of this song was possibly the greatest vocal performance ever in the show’s history. Few performances have moved me the way that one did. I have to go with Melinda.

Ian – I totally agree, Melinda got my vote, all the way.

I think Melinda’s version was the best vocal ever on AI. Any season. It’s amazing. Other than Rickie Lee Jones’ version, which is devastatingly emotional, Melinda’s is the best around. Matt’s was average and Constantine’s was laughable ( with that ridiculous stare lol)

Of course Constantine is THE best! There could never be any other for me! I love this Greek Man with the fire that burns in my loins for no other.
