Idol Countdown: Day 6

January 7th, 2009

Did you hear that they are bringing back WILDCARD WEEK??? I know, I almost soiled myself when I heard the news, too. If you are a newer viewer (post-season three) you may say “what is this wildcard you speak of?” The contestants are originally divided into groups, and only the top vote-getters make it through to the finals. Once those are chosen, the producers choose some favorite “loser” contestants for a second chance at reaching the top 12. So in honor of the wonders of the wildcard, and because we are in day six, here are six wildcard moments to remember:

1. Clay Aiken: Don’t let the sun go down on me. Eat your heart out Claymates, but I still like J.Guar’s version better.

2. John Peter Lewis sings A Little Less Conversation. Idolreview <3s this pen salesman!

3. Trenyce singing Let’s stay together in Season 2. Then, Leah Labelle singing Let’s Stay Together in Season 3. These are of note because they were both Paula’s pick to go through to the finals. NOTE TO CURRENT IDOL CONTESTANTS: Sing this song to butter up Paula. Or just bring her alcohol.

**I can’t find the trenyce vid! I will have to put it up later tonight.***

4. Carmen Rasmussen singing Can’t Fight the Moonlight aka the origination of the bleeting goat. Remember how Carmen along with a few other girls were plucked from obscurity to re-enter the competition during the wildcard round? You can watch the video, but don’t say I didn’t warn you that you might need earplugs.

5. RJ Helton singing Lately by Stevie Wonder. In season 1 they only chose one wildcard contestant, and RJ beat four others to claim the prize. I always liked RJ and thought he deserved more credit than he got.

6. J.Hud singing I believe in you and me. Great song but what the fug was she wearing? Thank God she got a stylist.
