Idol Countdown: Day 5

Today you get five fun facts about the new 4th judge, Kara DioGuardi. You may already know (or have assumed) that Kara is a record producer and songwriter, but here are some things you may not know:
- Kara is a talented singer and not only helped write songs for David Archuleta’s new album, but sings with David on the track “To Be With You” (an excellent track – listen to it on his myspace page–it is track number nine)
- She attended Duke and earned a degree in Political Science, probably influenced by her father, who is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
- She was one of the judges on “The One” the wannabe Idol show in ABC that flopped after two episodes. You will also recall, Syesha was a contestant on this show!
- Kara has written a bunch of hits for Idol Alumni like my girls Kelly and Carrie, Disney kids like the those Jonas boys, Demi Lavato, and HilDuff, and for big names like Celine, Xtina, Britney, and she wrote Pink’s latest radio hit “Sober” (which I seem to hear every time I have been in my car this past week.) - She owns Arthouse Entertainment which helps artists and writers just starting out in the biz, and she enjoys working with these young artists and shaping them into what they can be. Probably why she invited the opportunity to be a judge on the show!
