The last night in the studio…

May 14th, 2008

…because next week we are off to the Kodak Nokia theatre.

Right out of the gate we get a little group number, Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now. The other idols are in the house tonight, presumably to begin practicing for the dog and pony show next Wednesday.

After the break, the Ford commercial is up where they all get their very own key to a Ford. I wonder if they really get one? Hmmm? Next, Obligatory Recap! Obligatory Recap!

Up next, Babymama, complete with red hair, is back yeahyeahyeah-ing as usual. She is really spaz-tastic with this performance. There is screeching, bad dancing, and a random rapper in the balcony. No, thanks.

Davey-poo is out first and gets to see his sappy homecoming video (way cute) and he gets last night’s judges comments recap. And his send-off video that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. And no results as of yet.

Syesha is rocking the tennis shoes tonight (and is looking pretty good for being thrown under the bus!) We see her homecoming video (I did not see myself on tv – so very sad), and her send off video, and again, no results.

Cookie’s turn to see his homecoming, and he even got to throw out the first pitch at the Royals game! He gets his recap from Ryan, and also his farewell video that again we would never see otherwise.

After the break, the fate we all knew was coming, Syesha gets voted off tonight.

ELIMINATED TONIGHT: Syesha Mercado
Syesha

I knew it was coming, but it is still a sad, sad day. I wish you well, Syesha! You overcame so much as the underdog on this show, and I hope that next year at this time you will be doing great things (unlike last year’s 3rd placer Melinda…where is she?) and have a nice little career like fellow 3rd place Elliot, or K. Lo.

Such a non-shocker…but what do you think? See you at the Nokia theatre next week, where I will have a special correspondent at the live performance (Hi Ellen – I am so jealous!).

The elimination of Syesha is a very sad reflection of the American Public taste. Syesha had class, style, and an unbelievable voice. I like David Archuletta as well but Syesha should not have been eliminated. David Cook should have been. At least Syesha trys to make the song interesting with some choreography which I think is better than David Cooks stuff. What have we lost America? Where is your style & grace? Elvis had style, Diana Ross had style. Syesha you belong right up there, despite what the American Public thinks. I’ve been in this business for more than 20 years and I know!

Hi Laura! I’ve been getting ready for what will be a very fast but super exciting trip to Hollywood! I will definitely update you when I get back from Tuesday’s show and I will send any pictures that I can get! Do you know if cameras are allowed in the theater? I thought I read somewhere that someone got theirs taken away. But I guess I will find out next week! I will see what I can do for you! GO D.COOK!

John Vona – check out the songs on Analog Heart and you might change your mind about DC. It completely showcases his ability to write, sing, and madly play that guitar. You should also listen to his studio recordings at iTunes. Gosh. He BLOWS my mind with his talent.

Personally, I think Syesha deserved to be in the final more the David A *ducks from all the Archie girls*.

Next week will be the highest number of votes for an AI finale. Mark my word. Each David has a strong following and I have been anticipating this battle since March….even looked back to see when I posted the prediction on this blog :)

My tickets are purchased for the Dallas, TX AI tour :) I’m on the floor! Not as close as I would like to be….but I will definately see if I can run up to the stage when Cookie sings!

FUNNEST THING ON IDOL THIS SEASON (even beats Castro’s classic “I didn’t know it was sung by a cat”) — the look on Simon’s face toward the end of Fantasia’s song. OMG! I was rolling on the floor. THAT WAS PRICELESS!! :)

D Girl – I agree…I loved Simon’s face during Fantasia’s mess. What was that anyway???

Archuleta doesn’t have any style or grace when he sings. He just stands there bouncing or swaying. It’s so boring. I grew to like Syesha and wish it was a Cook/Mercado finale. I can’t get into Archuleta at all. If he wins I’d be surprised if his career took off anywhere but at Disney.

*jumps up and down* HOLY SCHMOLY my dude’s gonna be in the final!

Okay, I have nothing more to say, except to agree – Simon’s “WTF are you doing” look was absolutely priceless. Priceless I tell you.

I’ll have photos of Kauffman Stadium all Cooked out, but that’s it – I can’t make it to Hollywood. :(

D Girl – I bought my tickets yesterday, too for the show in Sunrise, FL–I got floor as well, not as close as I wanted either, but way closer than last year. Maybe this year the old fogeys won’t be in my section who yelled at me for dancing.
