bring on the gauntlet [02.22.07]
February 22nd, 2007
Kicking off the night with some inspiring words from the judges, Paula tells the boys to bring it on. Thanks Paula. Thanks.
Ryan tells us that the following are guest judges for the season:
Diana Ross
Jon Bon Jovi
J Lo.
Gwen Stefani
Tony Benett
Martina McBride
LuLu and Peter Noone from Herman’s Hermits
Barry Gibb
Quite a list, huh. I hope Gwen brings her son, Kingston. Cutest. Baby. Ever.
Then we get the obligatory recap.
OMG, is it? Is it really? A group song so early in the competition? Don’t indulge me Idol! Then I get expectations for results show group songs, and I don’t want to get my hopes up. But I always love a good group song. Unfortunately, with so many kids, face time is hard to come by, but they sing Seeds of love by Tears for Fears. yay for group songs! (I mean, what else are they going to do with an hour results show).
The guys are on the chopping block first. Sligh says he means no disrespect for bantering with Simon. I’m glad he is trying to save face, but we’ll see how it plays out next week.
Brandon is safe. Sundance is safe (which is effed up if you ask me). Chris R is safe. Nick is safe (WTF!) Blake is safe, too. And Paul Kim is the first one to go. And he gets to sing us to the second commercial break. Which can’t come soon enough.
Ladies are up next. Jordin is safe. Stephanie is safe. Sabrina is safe. Leslie is also safe. Melinda is safe (as she should be). Antonella is also safe (again, WTF).
Next, Amy is up, and Amy is out. (Man, Ryan has NO mercy this year!) I still like this girl, so I am sad to see her go (especially when Antonella is staying. gah.)
Ryan is hyping some cell phone challenge. LAME-O. But Babymama in da house. And Quincy Jones is in the audience (and his daughter is on another network right now on the show I am currently TiVoing). Babymama says she will be starring on Broadway in “The Color Purple.” And then she sings. And now I nap. And is it just me or has she put on about 20 pounds? Just saying.
More girls are up. Haley is safe. LaKisha is safe. Gina is also safe. Alaina gets the last safe spot. And that puts Nicole out on th streets. And she sings again. Which can’t stop soon enough. Stop the yelling!
The guys make the last trip to the chopping block his week. Chris Sligh is safe. Phil is safe. Jared is also safe. AJ is also sent back to the couch. Down to Sanjaya and Rudy. Rudy is going home, Sanjaya is in the top 4 guys.

The sappy video montage ensues. And this year, Daughtry replaces the bad day song. Way to promote from the inside, guys! And Rudy sings us out.
Really, no big shocks or surprises here tonight. Lets hope the guys rock it better next week. And the girls have to keep it up! Big week of idol…I’m out.

I’ve missed your floating heads! :D Not too surprised with the results, although I thought Rudy would last a bit longer, but oh well. Too bad Antonella’s not gone yet. :P
